CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, reaffirms its commitment to food security in Guatemala and the region with the inauguration of a new poultry farm in Chiquimulilla, Santa Rosa. This investment, exceeding $8 million, is part of the corporation’s growth strategy to increase production capacity and meet the rising demand for food in Guatemala and neighboring countries.
The farm, with a capacity for 472,000 birds, will produce over 1.25 million pounds of chicken monthly, making a significant contribution to food security. This new project underscores CMI’s focus on sustainable and responsible development, with a commitment to providing high-quality food, preserving the environment, and fostering local economic growth.
Job Creation and Local Development
The inauguration of the poultry farm in Chiquimulilla brings significant employment opportunities to the local community. By creating new direct jobs, including operational and administrative roles, CMI is boosting the local economy.
The facility features 13 tunnel-ventilated poultry houses designed to enhance bird comfort, optimizing their growth and welfare. Additionally, the farm incorporates energy-efficient ventilation systems, reinforcing CMI’s commitment to environmental sustainability—a cornerstone of the leadership vision of Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, Chairman of CMI’s Board of Directors.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability and Energy Efficiency
Sustainability and energy efficiency are key priorities for CMI at the new poultry farm. The facility optimizes resources such as water, electricity, and LP gas. With a 50% reduction in gas consumption and a 25% decrease in electricity usage, the farm operates more efficiently while ensuring the welfare of the birds.
Emilio Porta, General Manager of Protein Solutions at CMI Foods, highlighted CMI’s commitment to environmental stewardship. He noted that this new farm exemplifies the company’s progress toward more sustainable production practices. Proper management of wastewater and solid waste further demonstrates CMI’s environmental responsibility, which is an integral part of the vision led by Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, Chairman of CMI Foods.
