The ISO 37001 certification obtained by CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, marks a major milestone that validates its anti-bribery management system. This recognition, awarded by AENOR (the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification), reinforces the corporation’s commitment to integrity and aligns with its core values of Responsibility, Excellence, Integrity, and Respect (REIR – laughter in Spanish). In today’s business landscape, where transparency is essential, this achievement positions CMI as a leading Guatemalan corporation at the forefront of corporate compliance and best practices.
The certification process began in May 2023 and concluded in October 2024, following a comprehensive audit and the implementation of robust internal controls across the organization.
How the ISO 37001 Certification Was Achieved
CMI’s path to anti-bribery certification was guided by a strict strategy grounded in ethical principles and technical procedures. Key components of the process included:
- A formal institutional statement against corruption
- Risk assessments conducted at multiple levels of the organization
- Comprehensive training for employees in every country where CMI operates
- Implementation of preventive and corrective internal controls
- Active participation from top management, the Board of Directors, and shareholders
This collective effort was led by the Risk and Compliance team. Mónica Leal, Director of Risk and Compliance at CMI, emphasized, “This achievement is a direct reflection of CMI’s commitment to fighting bribery and corruption.”
Responsible Leadership and Corporate Vision
This ethical and strategic milestone stems from a clear vision at the highest levels of leadership. Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, Chairman of CMI’s Board of Directors, has achieved an organizational culture where transparency, ethical conduct, and strict compliance are considered essential pillars of sustainable growth.
Together with Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, President Chairman of CMI Foods and Chairman of the Board of Del Real Foods, and Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez, President Chairman of CMI Capital, CMI’s executive leadership has established rigorous standards that guide the company’s operations across all its markets.
The ISO 37001 certification is both a technical validation and an expression of CMI’s institutional purpose: to generate life-changing opportunities grounded in integrity and ethics. In a context where stakeholders increasingly demand accountability, CMI continues to position itself as a regional leader by championing a transparent, rigorous, and socially responsible business model
