The rural electrification project in San Pedro Carchá, Alta Verapaz, has achieved a significant milestone by providing 1,738 families with access to electricity. This success results from a public-private partnership between ENERGUATE, Renace Hydroelectric, and the local municipality. Initiated in 2017, the project was built on a participatory process where communities, local authorities, and companies identified the need for this essential service to foster development.
Collaboration and commitment from all parties involved have been key to achieving this major milestone.
Scope of the Electrification Project
The project, titled “Public-Private Partnership for the Electrification of San Pedro Carchá,” has successfully brought electricity to numerous communities. The beneficiaries include 175 families in Sejalal and Chipoip, 162 in Chimuy and Chicuis, 183 in Sequim and Chiquisis, 360 in Xicacao and Rubelcruz, 205 in Purulhá and Oquebhá, 98 families in Chisap, 328 families in Chacalté, 117 families in Santa Cecilia, and 110 families in Panzamalá.
With the completion of these phases, all these families can now enjoy the transformative benefits of electricity.

The “Public-Private Partnership for the Electrification of San Pedro Carchá” highlights the dedication and teamwork of all stakeholders.
